Project description

The role of the Senior Project Manager is a tactical role to manage the full project delivery lifecycle for customer implementations of high quality managed services projects ensuring delivery to time and budget. 

The Snr Project Manager contributes to the:

- Deliver projects within their scope, according to the agreed budget and to agreed customer schedules
- Ensure system security is never compromised
- Manage all scope changes via PCR Process
- Be responsible for all project related customer communications

Tasks & Responsibilities

Project Management 

  • Review proposals and statements of work to identify improvements to ensure successful project delivery;
  • Identify resource requirements, constraints and dependencies along with solutions and delivery strategies to achieve objectives;
  • Manage delivery resources in the end to end management of hardware, software and systems to provide high quality and scalable managed services solutions for all projects;
  • Work with Solution Architects and Designers to translate customer requirements into achievable project deliverables;
  • Manage project documents and specifications in accordance with delivery methodologies and standards;
  • Contribute to the enhancement of templates to ensure accuracy and continual improvement and efficiency for delivery;
  • Support project governance by adhering to project delivery methodologies and practices;
  • Administer the project time tracker system to ensure accurate and timely reporting of staff utilization

Customer Service 

  • Provide status information to project stakeholders and internal governance panels highlighting any tasks required;
  • Secure approvals from managers and customers prior to work commencing, within defined scope;
  • Ensure the project team provide technical support for customer projects until steady state transitions are complete, including after-hours support;
  • Take ownership for the resolution of customer issues in a timely manner;
  • Communicate effectively with customers regarding expectations for open issues and ensure management are informed of any escalations;
  • Manage difficult customers effectively and professionally.

Risk and Change Management

  • Maintain issue and risk register;
  • Proactively identify, communicate and mitigate risks;
  • Conduct quality assurance and peer reviews of project deliverables and systems, post implementation project reviews and incident resolutions;
  • Comply with all change management policies in executing project delivery;
  • Contribute to capacity planning processes;
  • Comply with all Data Centre Operations procedures;
  • Ensure accurate records of implementations utilising
    ITIL processes.

Training and professional development

Achieve and maintain a high degree of specialised technical training and certification, especially PMI and ITIL;
Extend skills and knowledge in time management, customer service and leadership.

Experience/ Skills/ Knowledge 

- Strong track record of delivering multiple projects on time, on budget and to the required standard;
- Extensive experience in Project Management and project methodologies;
- Strong project leadership skills enabling delivery against project objectives for senior management and the customer;
- Sound understanding of the underlying technologies involved in project implementations;
- Strong negotiation skills;
- Understands QA principles for validation and verification;
- Has had exposure to quality managements systems or accreditations, i.e. ISO 9001;
- Advance user of MS Word, Excel and Project applications to support PM admin functions;
- ITIL fundamentals certification and PMI certification, or equivalent qualifications (Prince II).
